Twin Valley Bible Academy sent eight students to the Keystone Christian Education Association All-State Band Festival on March 13-14, 2009. Hosted by Bible Baptist Church and West Chester Christian School, the Festival included two days of intense rehersals, fellowship, and a gala concert on Saturday afternoon. Each participant sharpened his musical talents and presentation skills through group partnership and instrumental instruction. Mr. Phil Gingery of West Chester Christian School organized and directed the event. He personally encouraged each musician to continue usig his talents in God-honoring ways.
Guest Conductor, Dr. Steve Allen, assembled the converging bands from eight different schools into a solid 115 person band. Dr. Allen is the music pastor of First Baptist Church and band director at Bethany Christian School in Troy, Michigan. He is a respected guest clinician and workshop leader in festival and faculty conferences in the Mid-west. His extensive work with ensembles has lead to many first place ratings and wins. The students responded well to his expertise and friendly conducting style.
The gala concert included a variety of styles and composers. Our students particularly enjoyed playing “Mighty Mite”, a march by Ted Mesang and arranged by Sean O’Laughlin. Other song titles included, “Legend of the Nighthawk”, “Moscow, 1941”, “Beautiful Savior: A Choral Prelude”, and more. Parents and students who attended the concert described the music as “beautiful” and “excellent.“
